A salute to cheddar!

I had the pleasure of connecting with Golden Age Cheese to taste a variety of their cheeses. If you don't already know, Golden Age Cheese is located in Woodhull, NY and has been serving our community cheesy goodness for 40 years!

Behind the Cheese-The Veteran. To say it's fantastic is an understatement! This cheese is aged 11 years. It packs a punch of flavor in every bite...and the crunch of the interior tyrosine crystals formed during the aging process are a favorite of mine! Hands down, one of the BEST local cheddars I've had. What I love more than the taste is that a portion of every sale is donated to benefit local veterans. That's our community serving our community!

Behind the Board- Skip the crackers because this is a standalone cheese! But, if you enjoy the bite of cheddar with fruit, I suggest pairing it on a thinly sliced, crisp bosc pear. You can double the crunch factor without a cracker. It's also divine with a smear of fig butter. Figs, in my opinion, are the best friend to an aged cheese. It complements the saltiness of the cheddar without overpowering it.

Behind the Vino- Try a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot! A drier red with fruit & herbal notes will unleash the strong flavors of The Veteran. Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery has a nice selection of reds.

Behind the Brew- Try a hoppy IPA! Locally, Liquid Shoes Brewing brews my favorite IPAs. Sip local!

Here's your Amazing Graze shopping list:

You can visit Golden Age Cheese's storefront in Woodhull, order online or find at Cugini Cafe on historic Market Street in Corning.

Dr. Konstantin Frank is located in the heart of the Finger Lakes, on the west side of Keuka Lake, and offers many award-winning wines.

You can visit Liquid Shoes Brewing, located on Market Street in Corning (just a few doors down from Cugini!).

Trader Joe's is my go-to for fig butter!
